The Bully Project – 1 Million Kids
BolderLife Festival, in association with The BULLY Project and their 1 Million Kids effort, Donors Choose and Facing History and Ourselves is bringing the film BULLY to the city of Boulder, CO.
This poignant film highlights solutions that both address immediate needs and lead to systemic change around bullying. Bullying is a widespread and serious problem that can happen anywhere, and this film speaks out about the need for change, offers solutions, and starts the conversation.
Rose Pritzker, a former Boulder student and local supporter has donated funds to assist the movement of ALL the middle school and high school students and teachers in Boulder, to see the film at the start of next school year form August 27th through the 31st, 2012.
The schools that have confirmed participation include some of Boulders major middle and high schools. Total student attendance to date is 5,412 which is 36% of the high school and middle school students within the Boulder Valley School District and this number is growing!
Pritzker says, “BULLY is a deeply moving, beautiful film created by my dear friend, Lee Hirsch. I was badly bullied, so this issue hits close to home. I’m now devoting my life to working on The Bully Project, and am so touched by what we’re seeing on the ground. People across this country are taking this movement and making it their own in really creative, inspiring ways. Our goal is to reach a million kids with the film and our educational platform in order to cause a tipping point. We’re well on our way, and have already reached tens of thousands of students in just a few weeks. We’re now seeing the film affecting policy. BULLY has pushed forward new pieces of legislation and now congress is putting together a bullying caucus to address this issue, all because one man had the courage to show us what was really going on in our schools. I’m excited to help bring this powerful movement to my hometown of Boulder.”
