“I believe in society as a whole”

17 Sep

Finally, in just three months we will again say: Welcome to the BolderLife Festival!

The members of the staff are working unceasingly to make the third edition of the festival again a wonderful event.

This time staff member Donna Terwilliger is talking about her work for Bolderlife Festival.

Donna, how did you get involved to BolderLife Festival? And how long ago?donna

Donna: It all began with a donation to a Kickstarter campaign associated with the festival in 2012. I had the privilege to meet the Artistic Director Erin Kelly earlier this year and expressed my interest to volunteer which she embraced with enthusiasm. So here we are.

Why do you believe in the vision and the mission of the BolderLife Festival?

Donna: Because it speaks to me as an individual and I believe in society as a whole. Life is not black or white, good or bad, right or wrong. It’s living in all the areas between the extremes that defines us. I believe that tolerance, acceptance and inclusion are of the utmost importance. Exposure to subjects that are taboo, inflammatory and/or controversial help to unite, not separate us. The more educated we become, the less likely with are to judge and exclude people who are different from us.

What is your job with the team at BolderLife? What are you doing within the next few weeks?

Donna: I’m far removed from Colorado (currently living in the bay area of California), so I’ve taken on a task that can be accomplished from my neck of the woods, grant applications. My immediate future involves writing, writing and more writing to help hopefully secure funds to ensure the success of the festival.

What are you doing when you are not working for BolderLife Festival?

Donna: My daytime job for the past 18 years is a physical therapist, which gives me the opportunity every day to help people improve their lives. Apart from this, you will most likely find me enjoying and exploring the great outdoors.

Donna: I’ve had the opportunity to view many of the films submitted to the festival as a first round judge. Incredibly impressed by the creativity and diversity of topics. I’m looking forward to seeing the same level of inspiration and boldness for the plays!

What would you say to the world about why people should come to the festival?

Donna: Challenge your views, embrace diversity and enhance your life. I guarantee you’ll be captivated and will leave inspired, invigorated and renewed. And I encourage those that can’t attend in person (as I couldn’t in 2012) to view the streaming content online.

What are you looking forward to mostly?

Donna: I know the content (films, plays, workshops and educators) will be phenomenal so that’s well worth the trip. But equally important to me is finally meeting in person the dedicated staff members who are working tirelessly to produce this amazing event.

Thank you, Donna!
