What is your BolderLife?
We have a big vision here at BolderLife, and we are excited to bring it to the world.
Everyone of our staff members has internalized this vision and the mission:
We are living BolderLife… in many different ways.
Learn what staff member Dawn Bower, Theatrical Program and Student Outreach Program Director, says about her BolderLife.
In my life before BolderLife Festival, I was/I did …
Dawn: I graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelors of Science in Education in 2000. I joined AmeriCorps*NCCC in January of 2001 and served for two years with the Denver campus, traveling in a 17 state region. I worked with such non-profits as Boys and Girls Club, 4H, YMCA, Colorado Fourteeners Initiative, American Red Cross, FEMA, and Habitat for Humanity. While in Denver, I fell in love with Lindy Hop swing dancing, in which I ended up competing, and met my husband-to-be. I was married for six years, own a home for four years, and traveled across the US and the world to learn more about myself. I found that I didn’t need to look anywhere else other than right inside my own heart. I discovered Mile Hi Church and the Science of Mind and Spirit teaching in April of 2010, but officially started attending regularly in October of 2011. I jumped in with both feet: started taking classes, became a member, and joined the teen ministry team. I learned how to meditate, take charge of my thinking, and become my best person ever. I love my life right now. Through this teaching, I’ve discovered many things about myself, the world and the reality of our universe. Among the things I’ve learned, I realized that I want to live on the beach near L.A. and continue with my talents as an actress.
I also want to learn how to surf.
I have said yes to life and all it’s possibilities.
I was and will be a part of BolderLife Festival because …
Dawn: I became a part of BolderLife because I know Erin Kelly, the way she works, and what she stands for, and I knew that I wanted to take any opportunity to be around her more. I stayed with BolderLife because the mission and the vision resonate with me and what I am trying to incorporate in my own life.
“I have said yes to life and all it’s possibilities.”

In my life after BolderLife Festival, I was/I did/I will …
Dawn: During the festival last year, I created the Student Outreach Program, which gave high-school aged students the chance to see moving, educational, and inspirational films paired up with speakers and workshops. After last year’s festival, I’ve been attempting to expand and improve that program into what it will become for the 2013 festival and beyond.
Even though I am moving from Denver to L.A. in January of 2014, I still plan on participating in the festival. In my own life, my goals are to attempt stand-up comedy and land a roll on a TV SitCom. While training for these two goals, I plan to continue tutoring elementary through high-school aged kids in the Venice/Santa Monica area.
I am bolder in my life because …
Dawn: I choose to live boldly. I say yes with no fear. I jump in with both feet. I speak up when it is needed. I dance when I feel like it. I sing like it doesn’t matter. I laugh whenever I can. I cry if I want to. I take deep breaths and look within. I expect greatness from myself and those around me. I invite others to join me in shining their lights. I smile and hug because it feels good. I love because it’s what I’m put on this earth to do.
And this is my BolderLife:
Dawn: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
