BolderLife Theater: “Feng Shui Fever”
BolderLife is excited to bring another year of fantastic plays to this year’s multi-media festival!
We have two separate performance days scheduled.
Today we want to introduce the director, the writer and the cast of the play “Feng Shui Fever”.
Logline: What happens when a book on Feng Shui gets into the hands of a desperate woman during a dark night of the soul?
Playwright: Nicolette Vajtay
Director: Erich Toll
Cast: Christine Vitale and Marc Moran
BolderLife Festival: How did you find the idea for this play? What is your message?
Nicolette: I have been a professional Feng Shui Practitioner for the past ten years and I was noticing, the more dire our economy, the more serious it all seemed to be getting with my clients. I too, often take it a bit too seriously, so I thought I would relax and have some fun with Feng Shui. The ancient practice of Feng Shui helps us to see where the blocks are in our lives, by looking at our environment. If we can improve upon our environment to create a little more flow, our lives change too. We are the creators of our lives and in the play, Alice’s deep impassioned commitment to change her life is what truly changes her outer manifestations. I will also say, most husbands and significant others get on board if they discover these blocks are affecting their sex life! True story!
BolderLife Festival: Why do you want to be involved in this play?
Marc: I am excited to be part of the theatre program in bolderlife festival because its great to be a part of a playwrights new work and to experience the pieces that will be presented.
Erich: As soon as I read Feng Shui Fever, I knew I wanted to direct it. First, it’s completely and utterly hilarious. But the playwright also did a great job of weaving in layers of meaning and truth. Everyone who has read the play or watched us rehearse, can relate to it in some way, because ultimately it’s about living a bolder life – life is very short, very fleeting, and the time is now to get bolder and find your bliss.
Christine: I love comedy and the character is so different from me. Alice is fun to play.
BolderLife Festival: What are you doing when you are not writing/directing/acting for BolderLife?
Erich: I’m a writer/producer by profession, and most of my career I’ve produced educational videos. Currently I’m launching a new web video and web content company that will focus on mind/body/spirit wellness.
Marc: When I am not acting in BolderLife, I perform in different theatres around town and have acted in many shows at the germinal stage Denver. I also work for Denver real estate agent Alice Marsh.
Nicolette: When I’m not busy working on a play, I am script writing for entrepreneurs and business owners. I help them discover their unique story of who they are in the business world, why they do what they do, and then share their unique gifts with the world using video marketing. I love that I get to write and direct in my day job, and write and direct for the theatre, my heart job!
Christine: I am the youth program administrator for Englewood Recreation.
BolderLife Festival: Why do you want to be a part of BolderLife? Have you been involved the years before?
Erich: This is the 3rd BolderLIfe Festival, and the 3rd time I’ve been involved. I cherish being a part of it because not only does the festival offer up great art and entertainment, but the producers do an amazing job of ensuring all parts of the festival have meaning and purpose. You walk away not only having enjoyed yourself, but you might find yourself a changed person.
Marc: I am happy to be in Feng Shui Fever as it is a sweet small comic look at a relationship of a somewhat wacky couple trying to find a new spark in life.
Nicolette: This is my first time as a playwright with BolderLife. It’s inspiring to have contributed a short play to a festival that honors how I live in the world: a festival that recognizes the world is full of challenges, and where small acts of kindness, inclusivity, and courageous conversations inspired through the arts, will make the world a happier place.
Christine: I’ve never been involved before. Dawn Bower (BLF Theater Program Director) told me about auditions and when I read the website and mission of BolderLife I thought it would be a cool project to be involved in.
BolderLife Festival: What do you think about BolderLife’s vision/mission statement?
Marc: I think the festival is awesome in its mission to present the world through the arts. it is important for people to enrich their lives with culture and diversity and to keep an open mind in life.
Erich: The idea of Exploring Life, Inspiring Change really resonates with me. First, it’s so important to be awake during life, to be cognizant of you are, what’s working for you, and what needs change. Second, one of the definitions of life is growth – we are only truly alive when we grow. An inspired change, will lead to growth.
Christine: Progressive and forward thinking.
BolderLife Festival: What would you say to the world: Why should people come to the festival?
Erich: If you want to have an amazing experience, through art and entertainment, and find yourself a better, evolving person afterwards.
Nicolette: Come to the festival to experience inspired stories that will move your heart to possible new action in your own life, and tickle your funny bone … which may also inspire new action in your life! You will have an opportunity to be affected by ART and artists who love what they do, and who pour their soul into their work. Live theatre is like no other experience – you can smell it, taste it and almost touch it right from your seat. It’s a magical experience!
Christine: Enjoy some super talents on the stage and experience something new that you can discuss with friends.
BolderLife Festival: Do you live a bolder life? What do you personally think how to live a bolder life?
Erich: I usually live a bolder life, from traveling to bizarre locations such Borneo or Egypt, to trying unusual activities from glider planes to sandboarding, to focusing on my passions such as write and directing comedy, and snowboarding and surfing. The key to living a bolder life is stepping outside your comfort zone – every day. My favorite quote of late is “Embrace what does not come naturally. Only then will you stop limiting yourself.” -Swami Chetanandu
Marc: I try to live a bolder life every day of my life by being humble and kind and always aware of the importance of the arts that nourish my soul.
Nicolette: It takes great courage to live a bold life out loud, living your passion and sharing your heart compassionately and truthfully with those around you. The ripple effect of living what you love can and will truly uplift the world. I feel it starts from within. Love yourself up first and take all of that out into the world; give freely as this profound Universe will never run out of it’s giving energy, so you can’t either!
Christine: I do live a bolder life. I’m always getting involved in my community. Having just moved to Littleton, I’m embracing the Metro area and the theatre scene.
Thank you very much!
